Happiness in New Orleans, LA

Giving travel advice is addictive. It's so satisfying to recommend a place to stay, restaurant to enjoy or small street to walk down. I love helping people and I love sharing my experiences. This post is the first in a series of travel recommendations. Sometimes you need a family getaway and sometimes you need a girls getaway. This one is more of the girls getaway type of trip...

Where to Stay:
Hotel Le Marais
Flowers draping down the wraught iron balconies welcome you as you enter into the lobby to hear the sound of a live band playing and tourists gulping down the famed Hurricane drinks. Located just off Bourbon Street, you are in the heart of the action here. It's an easy walk home from the local nightspots at 6am, when the last bars are closing. Not that I've done that...

Where to Eat:
The best drink I've even had came from Cochon. Bourbon + Orange Juice + Magic
If you can pronounce Tchoupitoulas Street, then you haven't drank enough of these. Oh, and the food isn't bad either. Actually, its some of the best food in New Orleans.

The loveliest lunch I've ever had was at Gallatoires. We hired a local to stand in line in us and voila- we were ushered in, wearing our Easter best, to be seated at a set time, along with the locals waiting beside us. Sterling silver, white tableclothes, and tradition are all around. Wonderful food, great wine, and a once in a lifetime experience.

Bourbon House
They had gluten-free options and basic good New Orleans food. But the standout item was the to-go cup of FROZEN bourbon drink. DROOL!

This is the place to stop and stuff your face with amazing pizza before you begin tossing beads off balconies. Oh and don't forget to drink a couple bottles of wine while you are there.

Where to Play:
Bourbon Street
This is the place to be. Find a balcony. Throw beads. Enough said.

Trolley Ride to the Garden District

What to Buy:

When to Go:
I visited in mid-May and it was very warm but not quite hot. I would guess that June to August are scorching. If you want temperate weather, try the fall / winter / spring months.

Book your trip now and have some fun!
(I had fun just writing this post, I miss you New Orleans!)
